In-box Overload Is Overwhelming
- Is logging into your email account starting to get a little stressful?
- Are there 50 to 100 or more new emails waiting for you daily?
- Are all the “Gurus” sending you the same offer in a different wrapper?
- Do you find the task of opening them all something worth procrastinating on?
- Has your unread total greatly exceeded your read ?
Mine was and something drastic had to be done. Tough choices, that had been put off for awhile, had to be made. Yes, it was time to sort by sender, unsubscribe, and delete. I know that it is hard to do. What if I miss the latest and greatest offer, what would I do? I’d have to live through it which, wouldn’t be such a big deal. There comes a time when we must cut the string and… unsubscribe. Yes, unsubscribe, that dirty little word that the other side dreads.
Ask yourself – Am I even reading them? Are they me offering value or just a pitch? How many of the same pitch are arriving from different senders? Am I on multiple lists for the same sender? Is the same sender hitting my in-box multiple times each & every day?
Now evaluate your answers and realistically decide who stays and who goes. I just had to do that and I have to say I feel good about it. Why? Because my in-box is once again MY in-box. I can actually read my emails without the thought that I’ll have to spend days accomplishing it (everyday). As a general rule of thumb – If your in-box always looks like you just returned from a weeks vacation… maybe it’s time to do some cleaning.
